Conbrako is a South African manufacturer specialising in mining drilling tools. From our 11,000m² facility in Krugersdorp, we manufacture DTH bits, threaded bits, taper bits, and hex drill rods for gold, platinum, coal, and hard rock mining operations across Southern Africa.
With over 3,000 designs in our portfolio and in-house carbide button fitting capability, we supply standard products or develop custom solutions for your specific drilling conditions. Unlike imported drill bits, our in-house fitting means better quality control and faster turnaround.
Our commitment to quality earned ISO 9001 certification in 2007, a standard we maintain through rigorous quality management and continuous investment in our people and equipment.
Our Story
Founded in 1958, Conbrako has grown over six decades into a comprehensive precision manufacturing facility. In the mid-1980s, Richard Child acquired the business and transformed it, pursuing opportunities in mining tools and heavy fabrication with relentless energy.
Richard passed away in 2019, but the business he built continues to grow under continued management and the involvement of the next generation of the Child family. Today, mining tools are our core focus, supported by additional capabilities in bridges, laser cutting, and custom fabrication.
Richard's approach to business — equal parts ambition, pragmatism, and humour — remains part of our DNA as we continue building on his legacy.
